全美房屋建造协会,National Association of Home Builders,简称NAHB。

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is a Washington, D.C.-based trade association whose broad mission is to enhance the climate for housing, homeownership and the residential building industry.

A federation of more than 800 state and local associations, NAHB represents more than 140,000 members nationwide. About one-third of NAHB’s members are home builders and/or remodelers. The others are associates working in closely related specialties such as sales and marketing, housing finance, and manufacturing and supplying building materials.

Since its inception in the early 1940s, NAHB has served as “the voice of America’s housing industry.” Its primary goals are to ensure that housing is a national priority and that all Americans have access to safe, decent and affordable housing, whether they choose to buy a home or rent.

Achieving that goal is increasingly difficult in today’s contentious and unsettled political and financial environment. Where home building and home buying were once celebrated and prioritized, they are now being actively discouraged.

In fact, the concept of homeownership as a national priority is very much under attack. Proposed legislative and regulatory actions would eliminate or cut back the mortgage interest deduction, make it harder for families to achieve homeownership, and remove the federal backstop to the housing finance system. Other proposals under consideration would threaten the system that ensures that affordable, high quality rental housing is available to meet the market’s needs.

Ultimately, these proposals would make it much more difficult to achieve homeownership, drive down the value of the nation’s housing stock, drive up the cost of rental housing, and threaten the economic recovery.

Countering this unjustified attack on homeownership and housing is one of NAHB’s primary objectives. Meeting its members’ business needs and ensuring that they have the tools and resources  necessary to succeed is another. NAHB works to achieve these goals through the efforts of staff working in a variety of disciplines.

Its various groups analyze policy issues, take the industry’s story to the public, monitor and work toward improving the housing finance system, and analyze and forecast economic and consumer trends. They also provide a wide range of business-related services to members and Home Builder Associations. NAHB also represents the industry’s interests on Capitol Hill as it strives to ensure that all housing remains a national priority when laws are made and policies are established. NAHB also works with federal agencies on regulations affecting the housing industry in areas such as mortgage finance, codes, energy and the environment.

Each year, NAHB’s builder members construct about 80% of the new homes built in the United States, both single-family and multifamily.

Known as the International Builders’ Show or IBS, NAHB’s Annual Convention and Exposition is the single most important event of the year for the home building industry. It is also the world’s largest show of its kind for the residential and light commercial construction industry. Beginning in February 2014, the International Builders' Show will be co-located with the National Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS), creating Design and Construction Week. The two events will remain separate and distinct shows, and will be held simultaneously in Las Vegas Feb. 4-6, 2014, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. During the 2015 International Builders' Show (Jan. 20-22), Design and Construction Week will expand further with the addition of the SURFACES and StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas shows at the Mandalay Bay Convention Cention Center in Las Vegas.

NAHB’s affiliates include Home Innovation Research Labs (formerly the NAHB Research Center) which develops, tests and evaluates new materials, methods, standards and equipment to improve the technology and the affordability of America’s housing; and the Home Builders Institute, NAHB’s workforce development arm, which develops and administers a wide range of educational and job training programs.

The National Housing Endowment, NAHB's philanthropic arm, is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the housing industry develop more effective approaches to home building, enhancing education and training for future generations of leaders in residential construction and increasing the body of knowledge on housing issues.
